Day 1: Your arrival in Errachidia.
We’ll meet you at the airport and take you to your Erfoud hotel.
Day 2: Erfoud – Merzouga – Erg Chebbi Camel Trekking
After checking out of the hotel at 9:30 am, you’ll be taken to Erfoud, the fossil capital and site of the International Date Festival, where you’ll be met by a guide. A visit to the Berber Nomads and a scenic drive through a Berber hamlet will be followed by lunch and time for rest and relaxation. The Erg Chebbi sand dunes will be our destination for the afternoon. You’ll spend some time at the hotel before the camel journey.
The camels will be loaded with water, food, blankets, and other necessities before we set off for the desert. The camel trip to the sand dunes takes around an hour and a half for each person.
In the dunes, you may watch the sunset and ride sand boards on the dunes, or you can relax in your individual tent. Afterward, you’ll return to the camp for mint tea (what we call Moroccan Berber Whiskey!). Dinner will be served in the camp’s Moroccan Berber tagine (see below). It’s time for the celebration to begin after supper. Afterwards, you’ll be able to relax in the desert while listening to traditional Berber nomad music with drums and dance. A private bathroom with a shower and air conditioning may be found in some tents, while others just offer beds and power (please let us know which amenities you would like for an accurate quote).
Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley – Ouarzazate .
Your guide will wake you in the morning and lead you to the Sahara’s dunes, where you may watch the sun rise. Before heading out again, we’ll have breakfast and take a shower in Merzouga. The Atlas Mountains’ Berber settlements of Tinjdad, Tinghir, Todra Gorges, and Boumalene-du-Dades will be our next stop on the way to Ouarzazate. We’ll eat at a local restaurant when we get there and then check into our hotel for the night.
Day 4: Ait Benhaddou – the High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech – Ouarzazate
The next day, you’ll begin your individualized tour of Marrakech. To begin our journey, we’ll visit the renowned Palace of Bahia, a palace that is known for its exquisite mosaics and enchanting interiors. The Saadian tombs and the Jewish Quarter, with their strikingly different architecture from the rest of the medina, will be our next stop.
On our itinerary are the Koutoubia Mosque and the Medersa Ben Youssef, a school for Quranic studies with Arabian-Andalucian architectural splendor. Last but not least, we’ll pay a visit to the busy Jemaah el Fna marketplace, home to several merchants offering orange juice, snakes, water, and henna tattoos. While enjoying a lunch break on one of the terraces with a panoramic view, take in the bustling crowds below.
As we make our way through the city, we’ll eventually arrive at the gorgeous Majorelle Gardens, where you may take your time and explore this urban oasis at your own speed. The Berber Museum, housed in the stunning blue villa, is a great place to learn about the Berber people and their rich history and culture. At the same riad, you may have dinner and sleep.
