Experience a one-in-a-lifetime journey from Marrakech to Erg Chebbi in the Sahara Desert and Camel Trek with All Morocco Tours. This is a 5-day, 4-night tour from Marrakech to Merzouga and returning to Marrakech.

Your guide will pick you up from your location in Marrakech and head towards the Dades Gorge, passing the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass (2260m) in the High Atlas mountains. We will pause for beautiful photos of our colorful landscapes and Berber villages. Along our way, we will visit the UNESCO World Heritage site Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, famous for films such as The Man Who Would Be King, Jewel of the Nile, Jesus of Nazareth, The Message, Lawrence of Arabia, The Mummy, and Gladiator.

After your visit and lunch, we will continue driving to the Dades Valley with a stop in Ouarzazate to visit Taourirt Kasbah. Then we will drive through the luscious green Dades Valley and the Valley of Roses via the fascinating Palmery of Skoura. We will arrive in Dades Valley in the evening. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

After breakfast, we will go from Dadès Gorge to the Sahara desert of Merzouga. Berber villages are scattered along the way. We’ll pass through Tinjdad, Jorf, and Erfoud (the Moroccan capital city of fossils) in the Saharan Oasis of Tafilalt and then continue to Merzouga. Dinner is served in the hotel near Erg Chebbi, where we will spend the night and listen to Berber music.

In the morning, we start our tour around the dunes of Erg Chebbi. We will visit a Berber house and listen to some Gnawa music, originally from Ghana and Sudan. We will visit some deserted mines, Berber nomads, and an oasis of palm trees. For lunch, we will head back to Merzouga. After relaxing for a while, we will go to the camels that are waiting to take us on an adventure in the sand dunes.

Before we leave for the desert, the camels will be packed with water, food, blankets, and everything else we will need for the trip. Each person will have their own camel and the ride will take 1.5 hours to reach the inside of the dunes.

After arriving at your own private tent, you can walk on the dunes to watch the beautiful sunset and try sand boarding on the dunes. After seeing the sun set, you will go down back to the camp to enjoy mint tea (what we call Moroccan Berber Whiskey!). Then you will have your meal of delicious Moroccan Berber tagine in the camp. After dinner, the party will start. Local Berber nomad musicians will play traditional music with drums and dancing. Afterwards, you will watch the magical sky full of stars and enjoy the peaceful desert. Dinner and overnight in a nomad camp

Tents have various amenities depending on your selection, including beds, electricity, a private bathroom with shower, and air conditioning (please let us know which amenities you would like for an accurate quote).

Awake in the morning to the gentle calling of your guide to see the sun rise over the dunes of the Sahara. We will ride camels back from Desert Camp to Merzouga for breakfast and showers. Our journey will then take us to Ouarzazate through the Berber villages of the Atlas Mountains: Tinjdad, Tinghir, Todra Gorges, and Boumalene-du-Dades. We will arrive in Ouarzazate in the evening for dinner and our stay in the riad.

Leaving Ouarzazate in the morning, we will have the chance to visit Ait Benhaddou for lunch before heading back to Marrakech with visits to Berber villages and stops in the Atlas Mountains. We will arrive back in Marrakech in the evening and you will be dropped off at your desired location. Thank you for touring with All Morocco Tours!
