Inclusions & Exclusions – 5-Day Sahara Desert Tour from Marrakech to Tangier

5-Day Marrakech Desert Tour to Tangier Itinerary

Meeting your driver at the appointed time and place marks the beginning of your 5 days tour from Marrakech to Tangier. Traveling through the beautiful Atlas Mountains, you’ll get to stop and explore a few different towns before arriving at the stunning city of Ouarzazate, where you’ll get to see the Atlas Studios and the stunning Kasbah “Taourirt” up close.
The next stop is the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, the largest and most impressive Kasbah in all of Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Soon after our city tour of Ouarzazate, we’ll be off to see the Valley of the Roses and the Valley of the Dades. The Dales Gorges are the destination of our journey. Stay in Dades Valley for the night.
To kick off our second day in the Sahara, we’ll take a leisurely walk between the gorges to take in the breathtaking scenery. Our next stop is Todra Gorges, a historic river canyon. After a pleasant stay, we’ll continue on to the Sahara desert town of Merzouga, passing via Erfoud (famous for its fossils and dates; stop here to see a factory with a museum dedicated to these ancient artifacts) and Rissani.
We check into the hotel and get the camels ready for our desert adventure. As the sun sets behind you, we enjoy a beautiful camel ride over the gorgeous Sahara, arriving around 1 hour later in the desert camp of Erg Chebbi. After eating dinner at the camp, guests may relax while listening to traditional Berber music and taking in the scenery. Then you would be able to gaze up at a sky ablaze with falling stars. Then spend the night in there.
You’ll get up early to try out the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view a breathtaking sunrise from atop a sand dune in the desert. After that, we ride camels back to the hotel for some much-needed showers and breakfast before we leave the desert. The Ziz valley will be seen, and then the Atlas Mountains (pass of Tizi Talghomt, 1907m alt.) will be crossed on route to Fes. We will stop at the national cedar forest near Azrou to view the local monkeys. Next, we’ll stop at Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco,” on our way to Fez, where we’ll spend the night.
You will spend the day seeing Morocco’s intellectual and cultural center, the Medina of Fes. The royal palace, the Jewish neighborhood, the view from the Bourj’s acropolis, and the ceramic pottery shop and factory are the first stops on your tour.
After visiting all these places, you will go on an exploration venture within the Medina to experience the diverse life of it and the cultural and historical sites, including the well-known Al Qaraouine University—the oldest in the region—the Tanneries, the Attarine museum, and the Mulay Idriss mausoleum. After lunch, you’ll explore the tile cooperative and take in the breathtaking views of Fes’ Medina. In the afternoon, when you are done with your visit, we will proceed to Chafchaouen. Overnight in there.
This is the 5th and final day of our 5 days tour from marrakech to Tanger. You will have some time in the morning to explore the beauty of the blue city of Chafchaouen on your own. Chafchaouen was established in 1471. The Jewish and Berber people resided in Chafchaouen prior to the Spanish colonization. People were painting their homes in blue to keep the bugs away, and the blue represents paradise. In the afternoon, we will go to the north of Morocco. After a two-and-a-half hour drive from Chafchaouen, we’ll arrive in Tanger, where we’ll drop you off at your hotel or riad.
This marks the conclusion of our offerings. To the extent that you have chosen our firm, we appreciate it.
