3-Day Marrakech to Fes Desert Tour via Merzouga

Three days is the shortest practical duration for traveling from Marrakech to Fes through the Erg Chebbi dunes. It provides a genuine Sahara experience but includes several hours of driving each day. Choose a four-day itinerary if you prefer a slower pace and more time in the desert.

The vehicle and main itinerary are private and reserved exclusively for your group. The desert camp may accommodate other guests, but you will have your own private luxury tent and bathroom.

We can pick you up from an accessible hotel, riad, airport or agreed meeting point. If your riad is inside a pedestrian-only section of the Medina, we will arrange pickup from the closest accessible location.

Pickup is normally between approximately 7:30 and 8:00 in the morning. Your exact departure time and meeting point will be confirmed before the tour.

Arrival is normally during the evening, often between approximately 7:00 and 8:30. The exact time depends on your departure, traffic, weather, meal breaks and the number of stops made along the way.

We do not recommend booking a flight or tightly timed train journey for the evening of Day 3. Road conditions, traffic, weather and sightseeing stops can change the arrival time.

Yes. We provide our guests with a private luxury desert tent featuring an ensuite bathroom with a private shower and toilet.

Yes. The camel trek is optional. A 4×4 transfer to and from the desert camp can be arranged when requested in advance.

The exact duration depends on the camp location, season and sunset time, but the experience generally lasts around one hour. There will normally be time to stop for photographs and watch the sunset.

Yes. Two breakfasts and two dinners are included. Lunches and drinks are not included unless they are added to your quotation.

Entrance tickets and licensed local guides are not included unless clearly stated in your written quotation. A local guide at Aït Ben Haddou can be arranged if requested.

Yes. Families with children can join, and private transportation makes stops more flexible. Please provide the children’s ages so we can recommend appropriate rooms, seating and camel or 4×4 arrangements.

Yes. Normal travel luggage can remain in the vehicle throughout the route. Many travelers also prepare a smaller overnight bag for the desert camp, but this is optional.

Bring comfortable footwear, sunglasses, sun protection, layered clothing and a warm jacket during colder months. Temperatures can vary considerably between daytime and nighttime.

Air conditioning is available at selected luxury camps but is not automatic at every property. Tell us if it is important so we can propose and confirm an appropriate camp before booking.

Yes. Because this is a private tour, stops and selected services can be adjusted when practical. The main route must remain realistic because of the distance between Marrakech, Merzouga and Fes.

The tour can operate year-round, subject to availability and safe road conditions. Summer days can be extremely hot, while winter mornings and desert nights can be cold. Mountain weather may occasionally affect the route.
