Itinerary

The 5 days tour from Marrakech begins with a pickup from either the airport or your Marrakech lodging. We will embark on a journey through the awe-inspiring High Atlas mountains, taking in the stunning views from the Tizi-N-Tichka pass. Along the way, there will be breaks to admire the breathtaking scenery.
Next, we will visit the renowned Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a fortification designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This historic village has been featured in numerous films including Gladiator, Alexander, and The Mummy, as well as the popular TV series Game of Thrones. Our journey then continues to Ouarzazate, famously known as "The gate of the desert." We will have dinner and spend the night at a hotel.

Following breakfast, we embark on a tour of the city of Ouarzazate. Our first stop is the Atlas studios, where several well-known films have been shot, followed by a visit to the Taourirt Kasbah, an ancient mud castle with fortifications. We then head to Agdz and join the Draa Valley, the longest river in Morocco, driving along its length and stopping for scenic views of the palm groves, stunning Kasbahs, and Berber villages. We have free time for lunch in either Nkob or Alnif.
After lunch, we journey to the Merzouga Sahara via Rissani. Upon reaching the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, we switch to camels to traverse the Sahara Desert. We stop at the top of a large dune to witness the awe-inspiring sunset. Our destination is a unique blend of traditional nomadic tents and the amenities of a hotel, where we can enjoy Berber drum music and dance around a campfire under the starry night sky. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the camp.

Rising early in the morning is a must in order to witness the stunning sunrise in the midst of the desert. You'll have free time for breakfast, followed by a return journey on camels to Merzouga where the driver will be waiting. Today is dedicated to exploring the region of Merzouga, with its numerous breathtaking sites, from sand dunes and wild lakes to mines, fossil areas, and magnificent oases, which offer a wide range of outdoor activities.
Our journey begins in Merzouga, as we embark on an off-road drive to visit an old eyeliner mine. We then visit the nomads in their handcrafted woven tent, gaining insight into their way of life while sipping on Berber tea. Our next stop is the Khamlia village, where we can experience the Gnaoua music and dance performances of its residents, who hail from sub-Saharan countries like Mali, Sudan, and Niger. Lunch is available at a restaurant of your choice. After that, we take a walk through the palm trees grove, followed by a drive to the wild lake of Merzouga, also known as the flamingos lake. Dinner and overnight stay will be at a hotel.

Following breakfast, we depart from the desert to visit the town of Rissani, the former capital of Tafilalet. Rissani remains a significant trading hub in the region and its bustling souk is alive with activity on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
After exploring the Rissani souk, we proceed to Erfoud and visit a workshop that specializes in fossilized marble. We then drive through the Touroug and Tinjdad palm groves to reach the Todra Gorges, a grand canyon created by the Todra River that is a favorite spot for rock climbers. Take some time to wander the gorges and appreciate their natural beauty. We will have free time for lunch at a restaurant before heading to the Dades Valley via Boumalne Dades, making stops to see the "monkey fingers" rock formation and a viewpoint overlooking the valley. Our journey concludes with dinner and an overnight stay at a hotel.

On the final day of your Morocco desert tour, we travel to Kalaa Magouna to explore the Rose Valley. The valley holds an annual Rose Festival in May where locals showcase their rose-based products, including perfumes, rose water, oil, and cosmetics. Our journey will take us past several Kasbahs, including the Amridil Kasbah surrounded by the palm tree groves of Skoura. We arrive in Ouarzazate with free time for lunch in town. From there, we make our way to Marrakech by driving through the Tizi-N-Tichka Pass and the High Atlas Mountains. The tour concludes with a drop-off at your accommodation or the airport in Marrakech.
