On the second day, after a delicious breakfast, we embark on a full day of exploration in the Merzouga region. This area is filled with stunning sights such as sand dunes, a wild lake, mines, fossil areas, and beautiful oases, which are perfect for outdoor activities.
Our first stop is an old eyeliner mine, which we will reach by taking an off-road drive. Next, we visit the nomads in their handcrafted tent and learn about their way of life while sipping on a Berber tea. Then, we head to the Khamlia village, where you can enjoy the Gnaoua music and dance performances. The residents of Khamlia are originally from sub-Saharan countries such as Mali, Sudan, and Niger. After some free time for lunch, we take a walk through a palm trees grove and then drive a few kilometers to see the wild lake of Merzouga, also known as the flamingos lake.
In the afternoon, we embark on a camel ride across the sandy desert, making a stop at the top of a high dune to admire the sunset. We continue our journey to a luxurious camp where you can dance to the rhythm of Berber drums and gaze at the starry sky. Enjoy dinner and spend the night in the camp.
Make sure to wake up early on the final day of your tour to witness the breathtaking sunrise in the heart of the desert. After breakfast, you will return on camels to Merzouga where your driver will be waiting. Depending on your flight time, we will depart from the desert and visit the town of Rissani. I had an amazing and memorable experience with "All Morocco Tours" on my trip. The guides were fantastic and taught us a lot about their culture and way of life, especially Hamid who was incredibly friendly, helpful and kind. He was more than just a guide, he became a friend. I highly recommend them.
